This was also decided that the respective ICP’s being constructed by India and Pakistan will be connected through a new gate or the second check post at the Attari Border.

But although the construction of the ICP’s on both the sides was in full swing but the decision on connecting the both ICP’s through a new gate at the border was awaited. Even the local authorities had claimed that decision on the new gate is awaited.

The delegations from both India and Pakistan visited the site of the ICP being built on the Indian side and also closely monitored the location of the new gate earmarked on the Indian side.

Both the Joint secretaries also signed a joint document at the end of the meeting regarding the progress of the ICP and the alignment of the new gate for connecting ICP’s.

Amritsar deputy commissioner Kahan Singh Pannu, said, "It was a crucial meeting in context of the ICP. The officials from both the nations had reviewed the project and also it was decided to come up with a new gate that will connect the ICP of India and Pakistan."

On a question, the DC said, "The Trade movement and the passenger movement will take place through the new gate of the ICP’s whereas the existing joint check post will be used for ceremonial purposes. We hope to complete the project by July.
