In the heat of political battlefield more trouble seems to brewing for AAP party candidate from Guna-Shivpuri LS seat Shailendra Kushwaha. His and another party office-bearer's names were added in the FIR as accused on Monday in connection with gang rape charges against Kushwaha and three others.
A 25-year-old woman had alleged in a complaint lodged to Kampoo police station on March 26 last that Kuswaha along with three other AAP office-bearers in Gwalior--district convener Himanshu Kulshrestha, district secretary Abhijit Wagh and district spokesperson Manuraj Saxena--gangraped her at least thrice between December, 2012 and March, 2013 and threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to the police.
The complainant belongs to Gwalior. She shifted to Raipur after her marriage. She also associated with the party as an office-bearer when she was allegedly gang raped.
Since the time of incident as she had reported was more than one year back police officers said the FIR would be lodged only after investigation into the case.
The police lodged the FIR against two of the four in the first week of April- Vagh and Kulshrestha. They were arrested and released on bail.
The woman's statement was recorded before a magistrate under section 164 of CrPC on April 24. In the wake of the statement police added the names of Kushwaha and Saxena also.
Kushwaha and Manuraj Saxena applied for anticipatory bail in the district court on Monday and the court reserved its order till Tuesday.
ASP Virendra Jain said the FIR against four above persons was lodged on basis of victim's statement recording under section 164 at district court, though incident occurred almost a year and three months ago.
AAP's state chief spokesperson Akshya Hunka said the way police investigated the matter was bound to raise doubts in the minds of people. First two of the four were made accused and after about 20 days the remaining two were also made accused in the case.
He said AAP party itself had demanded a proper investigation into the matter. But prima facie the complaint raised several questions. However, the AAP would like to make it clear that if any of them was found guilty he would be sacked from the party.
