An FIR has been lodged against LJP MLA Izhar Ahmed for allegedly violating model code of conduct in Bihar.
Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anjani Kumar said on Monday that the FIR had been lodged with Biraul police station against Ahmed on a complaint of Biraul's Sub-divisional Magistrate KN Singh on Sunday.
Kumar said that allegations against Ahmed, Ghanshyampur legislator, were that he had distributed keys to motor-cycles and cash prizes to the winner and runner-up of a cricket competition on March 9 played at Supaul Khadi Bhandar premises.
Ahmed had also announced that he would construct another stadium in his constituency, Kamar said.
One Kailash Choudhary of Janata Dal (U) and Birendra Choudhary of BJP had made complaint with the SDM KN Singh about the alleged violation of poll code by the legislator.
The SDM had directed the Biraul Block Development Officer (BDO) Avdhesh Kumar Anand to inquire into the matter who, in turn, had asked Ahmed to respond within three days but the family members of the legislator had refused to accept the BDO's show cause notice.
After the BDO's report, the SDM ordered institution of the FIR.
