Fire brigade tense over police slackness

THE FIRE Services Department is trying their best to avoid any tragedy during Diwali, but other agencies, including the police, are not matching up to the efforts of the former.

The slack attitude of the police is most visible in the city. Under the nose of the police, shops selling crackers have come up busy roads and crowded city areas.

Some shops in the Rawatpur Bazar have come up near hotels and teashops.

Talking to HT, station fire officer of Fazalganj SK Singh said the local police had been informed about shops that could spark off a fire anytime. He added that action was needed against these shop without any delay.

Station officer of the Kakdeo police station Deepa Singh told HT, “ These shops will be traced and necessary action taken”. SK Singh said to avoid any fire incident in the city appropriate measures needed to by the fire brigade and the police jointly. He added fire services of other major establishment in the city had also been asked to maintain high alert during the festive season. Singh added fire services were on the high alert and fire tenders had been deployed at Kotwali, Parade Market, Gumti Market and Mall Road.
