THE STATE Government’s first Manikchandra Vajpayee National Journalism award was conferred on veteran journalist Bhagwati Dhar Vajpayee at a programme organised at Ravindra Bhavan on Wednesday evening.
The programme was organised to mark the first death anniversary of late Manikchandra Vajpayee. Public Relations Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Chhattisgarh Culture Minister Brijmohan Agarwal presented Vajpayee a shawl, shreephal, citation and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
RSS veteran M G Vaidya on this occasion exhorted journalists to be nationalist in their approach and contribute to society. Senior journalist Devendra Swaroop highlighted the life and work of late Vajpayee as a journalist.
Those present on the occasion were Finance Minister Raghavji, Minister of State for Water Resources Jugal Kishore Bagri, former MP Kailash Sarang, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism University director general Achyutanand Mishra, commissioner Public Relations Manoj Shrivastava, Shreedhar Paradkar and Rajendra Sharma.
