India's first approved woman guide O Kelly has passed away. She was 91.
Kelly, who died on Sunday is survived by three sons and two daughters.
"Kelly was a member of the first batch of guides formed by the government in 1955-56. She actively worked as a tourist guide till 1986," Senior Tourist Guide T K Basu said.
She also knew seven languages, including Greek, Arab, English, Hindi, French, Spanish and Italian, Basu said.
Kelly was born in Egypt in 1919. She got married to William Robert Kelly and since 1953 she was staying in Varanasi. Her husband died in 1974.
