Five youths were arrested for allegedly assaulting a police constable on Monday night after he stopped them from parking their car in the middle of the road outside The Great India Place mall.

The youths were in an inebriated condition.

According to the police, the youths were drunk and had parked their car in front of the mall's main gate, blocking the road for other vehicles entering the mall.

They beat up the constable, Girivar Singh, when he asked them to park their car at the parking lot.

"When the constable stopped and asked them to park their car at the parking lot, all five started beating Singh. They also tore his uniform," said S Channapa, circle officer.

"They also misbehaved with other policemen. All the five youths were arrested and sent to Sector 39 police station," said a senior police officer.

The medical examination of all youths - Jagvir, Sukhvir, Jagdip, Rohan and Hemant - showed that they were drunk.
