Five arrested for selling Ganja

The Anti Narcotics Cell of the Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested five persons hailing from Rajasthan involved in selling Ganja (Hafim) to prospective customers in the city.
According to the remand application, Mahesharam Devasi (28), Jitendra Devasi (27), Amar Devasi (22), Kisan Bhisnoi (22) and Maansingh Bhimsingh (21) were involved in selling Ganja that they had got from Rajasthan in various parts of the western suburbs from the past few days.
Acting on a special tip off, the ANC officials laid a trap in Kandivali where Mahesharam and Jitendra were waiting for prospective customers to sell the Ganja. The police seized a total of 280 grams of Ganja from both the accused.
The police have arrested the other three accused after interrogating Mahesharam and Jitendra. However, they have not found them possessing Ganja.
According to the remand application, all the accused hail from Rajasthan where Ganja is available easily.
The police are now on the lookout for three more persons involved in the same racket – Channaram Devasi, Hari Om and Vasantji Ganda.
The accused have been arrested under section 8 ( C), 20, 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act and have been remanded to police custody till January 9.
