Five persons, including four students, were arrested from Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district in connection with robbery in Kurla-Faizabad (Saket) Express near Maharashtra's Bhusawal station on Saturday, Government Railway Police (GRP) said on Sunday.
The arrests, made late on Saturday night, came after a GRP team from Bhusawal came down to Khandwa on Saturday, where the victims of robbery got down to lodge complaint en-route, Khandwa GRP said.
Bhusawal GRP investigating the details furnished to them by victims, went to Burhanpur and arrested one person, who disclosed the names of his four accomplices, who were arrested later, Khandwa GRP Station House Officer R C Gaud said.
The accused students used to commute to Bhusawal daily by this train, he said.
The SHO said the accused in their custody might have also committed robbery in the Kurla - Gorakhpur Holiday Express (2542) on June 12, near Bhusawal as a similar modus operandi was used in both the crimes.
Masked robbers robbed passengers in general compartment of Kurla-Gorakpur Express on June 12 and injured two persons.
In both the cases, passengers were dispossessed of cash and valuables worth Rs 1.50 lakh, GRP sources said.
