Five booked in flesh trade case

A case has been registered in Rewari against five persons, including a woman, on charges of involvement in flesh trade, after a teenage girl hailing from Bihar who was pushed into the trade, approached the police.

The 16 year old girl was allegedly brought to Dharuhera from Bihar's Purnea district by a family acquaintance Jul Mohammad and his accomplice Amal on July 26, police said. She was sold to Raj Kumar and his wife Anita for Rs 1.20 lakh.

The couple kept the girl confined in their rented accommodation and forced her into prostitution. The girl, however, managed to flee on July 30 and approached the Dharuhera police.

According to police, the FIR was filed against Jul Mohammad, Amal, both residents of the Siliguri area of West Bengal, Raj Kumar, his wife Anita, both residents of Dharuhera and another person. A case was registered against them on Sunday under various sections of the IPC and the girl's statement recorded in a local court after which she was lodged at the Nari Niketan in Karnal.

She was also medically examined in Rewari, investigating officer in the case, aAssistant sub inspector Sanjay Kumar, said. He said efforts were on to nab the culprits, all of whom were absconding.
