Five held for illegal weapon trade in MP

Five persons allegedly engaged in illegal weapons trade were arrested by police along with four country-made revolvers and many live cartridges, police said today.

Five persons allegedly engaged in illegal weapons trade were arrested by police along with four country-made revolvers and many live cartridges, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off police arrested one Gajrajsingh Gurjar yesterday night and recovered an unlicensed revolver and a cartridge from him, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sunil Kumar Jain told reporters.

Later, on the basis of information revealed by Gurjar police arrested Viram Singh Gurjar and from him also recovered a loaded revolver.

They told police that they arrived here from Rajgarh district to buy illegal weapons from Dhoolkot area where Sikligar community manufactures weapons illegally, he said.

Later, police arrested three persons identified as Jagan Singh, Tanman Singh and Dilip Singh, all the three belonging to the Sikligar community and recovered two revolvers and many cartridges from them, the ASP said.

Police also recovered two motorcycles being used by them for transporting the illegal weapons.

Two other persons involved in the trade with them are absconding and a hunt is on to nab them soon, the ASP added.
