Five injured in group clash in Sagar town of Madhya Pradesh

Five people including a woman were injured in a clash between two groups following a minor road accident at Gadhakota town of the district, police said on Sunday.

Tension prevailed in the town after the clash but the situation was controlled, said Sagar superintendent of police (SP) Sachin Atulkar. The incident took place when a minor girl, who was playing on the road near her house, was hit by a bike. Her family members reached the spot and got into an altercation with the youth, which turned into a violent clash in which fire arms were used, he said.

Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Extra police has been deployed in the village and security has been tightened, he added. One of the injured, a woman received a gunshot wound, the SP said. All the injured, who belong to the same family were rushed to the Sagar district hospital from where two of the seriously injured were referred to Bhopal.

Nine persons have been booked for attempted murder, he said. The accused are absconding and police parties have been formed and sent to different places to nab them. Tension prevailed in the town after the clash and people belonging to a particular community reached Gadhakota bus stand and blocked Sagar-Damoh road.

The road block was lifted after state minister Gopal Bhargav and SP Atulkar assured immediate action would be taken against the accused.
