Five militants arrested in Manipur

Five militants have been arrested in Manipur since Sunday, official sources said today.

Five militants have been arrested in Manipur since Sunday, official sources said today.

A. Tomba Singh (25), a member of outlawed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup, was arrested by a combined team of police and 21 Assam Rifles from Wangoo Nongyaikhong Khongbal in Thoubal district of Manipur yesterday, police said.

A combined team of police and 16 Assam Rifles arrested one Thongam Thoithoi Singh (28), a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council), from Lamshang Bazar in Manipur's Imphal West District yesterday, the police said.

The Imphal West District police also nabbed two cadre of United National Liberation Front from Bijang village in Manipur's Senapati District yesterday. One 9mm pistol with six live rounds and one Chinese handgrenade were recovered from their possession, the police said.

Meanwhile, a member of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak was arrested by the personnel of 31 Assam Rifles at Manipur's border town Moreh on February 1, Assam Rifles sources said.
