Five marooned persons were rescued and airlifted by an Indian Air Force chopper from Orissa's flood-hit Boudh district on Friday, official sources said.

The five were among the 25 people, who had stayed back at Manikpur though others had left for safer places after flood waters entered into their village in Boudh on Tuesday.

Efforts were underway to airlift the remaining 20 people, while the five rescued persons have been admitted to the Capital Hospital here, sources said.

The five, identified as Nathuram Rana, Bedavyas Rana, Gotichandra Rana, Shyamsunder Rana and Kaikeyi Rana, had virtually remained without food since Tuesday.
