Flood Control Cell set up

THE STATE Government has established a Flood Control and Monitoring Cell to deal with conditions arising out of flood or excessive rains. The control room would function from room number 120-A at the Mantralaya between 8 am and 8 pm. Later, it would become a 24-hour facility as per the flood situation.

THE STATE Government has established a Flood Control and Monitoring Cell to deal with conditions arising out of flood or excessive rains. The control room would function from room number 120-A at the Mantralaya between 8 am and 8 pm. Later, it would become a 24-hour facility as per the flood situation.

The control room’s phone number, established under the Relief Commissioners’ Office, is 2441419 and 2552122 while the fax number is 2441574. Besides, a four-digit phone number is 1070 and the email address is reliefcom@mp.nic.in.

Divisional commissioners and district collectors would provide information and alerts to the Relief Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Revenue) on phone number 2441582 (office) and 2441335 (residence) or Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ashok Gupta on phone numbers 2441419 (office) and 2441254 (residence).

The State Government has further directed the divisional commissioners and collectors to forward important information on flood to the Colonel, General Staff HQ, MP Sub-Area on wireless. They are also to update the control room on flood situation everyday.

The collectors in flood-prone districts have been asked to set up flood control rooms at district headquarters immediately after the onset of monsoon and make a senior official in-charge of the same.

The details of this officer would be sent across to the office of relief commissioner in Bhopal. Control rooms are also to be set up at tehsil-levels, if necessary.

A decision to set up the main Flood Control Cell at Bhopal was taken at a recently held meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni.
