Flood-hit block roads at several places

THE FLOOD-AFFECTED people today staged road blockades at several places in Bhopal accusing banks of not opening their accounts for encashing their relief amount cheques in spite of clear directives by the district administration. Bank officials on the contrary denied the charges and said that ignorant cheque holders were getting confused due to some reason whereas the accounts were being opened easily on presenting necessary documents.

Meanwhile, agitated victims staged road blockades at Pul Bogda, State Bank of India, Sultania Road branch, Aish Bagh Railway Crossing, ITI and other places.

Residents of Subhash Nagar, Karod, Aish Bagh, Lal Ghati, Chandbad, Bhanpur, Atal Ayub Nagar and Bagh Sewania blocked the one-way road near SBI, Sultania Road branch.

The road blockade continued for more than an hour and several men, women and children took part in the protest. Later, police personnel from Koh-e-Fiza police station reached the place and dispersed the agitated crowd.

Similar, scene was created by the demonstrators at Aish Bagh Railway Crossing, Pul Bogda and ITI. They were demanding opening of bank accounts so that cheques provided to them could be honoured.
