Panic gripped the Sunder Nagar locality on Wednesday when a female foetus, eaten by stray dogs, was found at a garbage dump. The police was called in when some area residents spotted the foetus.

"The decomposed foetus was lying at a garbage dump. Several stray dogs had gathered around the dump that created suspicion among the area residents,"said a local.

The Daba police team reached the spot to verify the facts. "The foetus was partially eaten by stray dogs when we reached the spot,"said a police official.

Station house officer (SHO), Daba police station, inspector Jatinderjit Singh, said the foetus was decomposed and police could not identify whether it was a male or female.

However, when the foetus was sent to the civil hospital, it was found that it was a female foetus. The post-mortem report also stated that half of the foetus was eaten by stray dogs.Jatinderjit said that a case has been registered against unidentified persons and investigation has been initiated.
