Fog causes 30-car pile-up on NH-24

One person died and over two-dozen were injured, some of them critically, when over 30 cars, three-wheelers and tempos crashed into one another on the busy National Highway-24 near Hapur on a foggy Thursday morning, reports Peyush Khandelwal.

One person died and over two-dozen were injured, some of them critically, when over 30 cars, three-wheelers and tempos crashed into one another on the busy National Highway-24 near Hapur on a foggy Thursday morning.

Zahid Khan (33), an auto-rickshaw driver, died after his vehicle overturned due to the impact. Locals and police took the injured passengers of the auto-rickshaw to a nearby hospital where the condition of four was said to be critical.

According the to police, most vehicles involved in the pile-up included luxury cars belonging to people who were going on vacation. Many people suffered minor injuries.

“The accident happened due to dense fog,” said Jagdish Sharma, Superintendent of Police (Rural).
