Fog claims 2 more, toll touches six in 7 days

Two persons were killed in yet another accident triggered by dense fog in the city, the police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday night when the duo riding on a bike were hit by an unknown vehicle near Basai Road flyover. The victims —Rajender and Satbir — were employees of Hero Motors, the police said.

Rajender died on the spot, while Satbir succumbed to his injuries during treatment in a hospital. Satbir was rushed to the hospital by some villagers who also informed the victims’ families.

According to the police, the accident took place due to fog. A case has been registered with the Sector 10 police station against unknown persons.

On Friday night, two persons were killed in two separate accidents. Sohan Lal, 38, lost his life after being hit by an unknown vehicle on the national highway- 8 while he was crossing the road. He died on the spot.

In another incident, 23-year-old Shashank was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Udyog Vihar. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Dense fog which enveloped the entire northern region during the past few days has caused several road accidents and vehicular pile up in Gurgaon and other part of the national capital region.

On Tuesday last, Chinmay Sharma, 38, a real estate executive, was killed on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road when his Hyundai Santro car rammed into a tractor trolley loaded with iron rods.

The accident was also attributed to fog.

On the same day, poor visibility on the Delhi-Noida Expressway witnessed a huge pile-up of cars that took place after a truck collided with a car near Sector 138 on the Noida-Greater Noida side of the expressway.
