Food inflation takes away all the fun of the festive season
With reference to the editorial Our interest on his mind (Our Take, November 3), it’s sad that the benefits of the Indian economy’s steady growth are being levelled by food inflation, which is rising at an unprecedented rate. As a result, even in the festive season, people are being forced to spend cautiously. It is the responsibility of the government to find a quick solution to this problem and give the common man a reason to smile. Ayushi Kumari, via email
Committing a bigger crime This refers to the report Cong meet accuses RSS of terror links (November 3). Over the years, politics has become synonymous with crime. No political party is clean. The Congress accuses the RSS and the BJP of working hand-in-glove with religious fundamentalists, but it conveniently overlooks the various criminal charges levelled against many of its own party members. The need of the hour is to put an end to the blame game. Our political set- up needs honest and diligent ministers, not criminals.
S. Rajagopalan, Chennai A new angle to corruption The editorial Let us get real about realty (Our Take, November 2) correctly points out that there is a strong nexus between the bureaucracy and the executive. Here, high-ranking armed forces officials are also involved. This has added another dimension to corruption in India. Suriender Shah, Delhi
