Wine tasting sessions, live demonstrations by renowned chefs, sommelier championship and food stalls from 17 different nations — all this and many more is the part of the ongoing India International Food & Drinks Expo in the city.
The three-day long food confluence showcases some of the best new products and innovations in the food and drinks industry from across the world.
“The main idea behind this expo is to get the best food and beverages to India. We are in the second edition of this expo and the response this time is bigger and better as compared to last year,” says Lauren Morrey, project manager for the event.
The wine-tasting session, which will take place today, will see a variety of Indian and International wines on the stand. This will be followed by a food demonstration by chef Nishant Choubey, who will be preparing some exotic dishes from southern United States.
“I will be preparing two dishes, one is Chicken Sricassee, a dish inspired from the French. It’s made with lot of heavy cream and herbs. The other one is Jambalaya, a Spain-inspired dish,” says Chef Choubey.
The event will also mark the Third Indian Sommelier championship, the only of its kind in India. The championship will test Indian sommelier on both practical and theoritical level, which will be judged by a panel of judges from India and abroad.
Other attractions at the expo include the Italian corner, serving some of the best wine and cheese, the French pavilion and the Chinese pavilion, serving a variety of French and Chinese cuisines, fine Irish liquor and wine from Spain.
“We also have Bounce, the famous natural health products from Australia and Vimto, a soft drink from the UK. The aim is to not only get the best of food and beverages from the world over, but to also increase knowledge about these products.” says Morrey.
The expo is on till December 4, at the Pragati Maidan, Hall 12A.
Time: 10am to 6pm.
