What do the wives and girlfriends of Britain's soccer stars do when they want to let their hair down, especially in the aftermath of an inaugural victory at World Cup 2006?

While their husbands and boyfriends opted to remain quietly satisfied and in control of their emotions, the wives and girlfriends waited for the clock to strike 10 p.m. on Saturday, before deciding to have a really good time at team's luxury hotel in Baden Baden.

Relatively well-behaved till dinner was over on the terrace at Brenner's Park, their luxury hotel, the gals started off with a round of Pear Bellinis.

Three rounds of sugarfrosted champagne were followed by beer, wine and spirits, The Daily Mail reported.

By 10.45 p.m. the party was in full swing and diners at Brenner's Wintergarten Restaurant were subjected to a screeching din, a tortured, strangulated version of We Are The Champions, interspersed with high-pitched giggles.

Coleen McLoughlin (Wayne Rooney's fiancee), Elen Rives (Frank Lampard's), Alex Curran (Steven Gerrard's), Carly Zucker (Joe Cole's girlfriend) and Abigail Clancy (girlfriend of Peter Crouch) were among the girls who had no qualms about letting down their reserve.

The cacophony notwithstanding, giant portions of chips and pizza were also devoured throughout the evening.

One would have thought that it was all over by around midnight, but Coleen, Elen, Alex, and Carly, along with Joanne Beckham, David's sister, and Coleen's mum Colette, were in the mood for more.

They went off to Garibaldi, an Italian restaurant-cum-nightclub, said to be one of Baden Baden's "hotspots".

There they ordered 270 pounds worth of MoÎt and Chandon champagne, nine vodkas and Red Bulls and assorted sambucas, Bacardis and lagers, and danced the night away. The total bill came to 450 pounds.

Elen climbed onto a bench to perform a riotous, somewhat uncoordinated dance routine.

The group finally called it quits at 3 a.m. on Sunday.

The most notable absentee was Captain Beck's spouse - Victoria. She chose to assert her superior status by dining separately in the Wintergarten with her mother-in-law Sandra Beckham, sister-in-law Joanne and son Romeo, besides Cheryl Tweedy, Asley Cole's 22-year-old girlfriend. Two personal bodyguards watched over the group.

At one point Coleen made her way over to the table and sat down with them for a few minutes. But it seems Victoria could not be persuaded to join the party. She left the restaurant and retired for the night at 9.45 p.m.
