A former BJP MLA's son and five others were arrested by Khargone police for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her at Pipaljhopa village under Bhagwanpura police station.
Confirming the rape, SP Khargone NP Barkade said acting swiftly, police station in-charge Sitaram Chouhan and SDOP arrested all the six accused in the case including Nanu Goda, son of former BJP MLA Dal Singh Solanki on Friday, a day after the matter was reported to police.
Solanki was elected as BJP MLA from Bhagwanpura assembly seat when Uma Bharti became the chief minister in 2004-05.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on August 14 when a girl of Badia village was lured by Ekka Nanla Patel, a youth, and taken to a jungle, 20kms from the village, on the pretext of marriage. Five other youths, including former MLA's son were already waiting there.
All of them raped the girl repeatedly for seven days. Later, they fled from the spot after the girl's condition started deteriorating. They left the girl there along with the youth who brought her.
The girl fled from the spot on Thursday and managed to reach her village at Badia and narrated the entire incident to her family.
The family members took the victim to the police station and a complaint was lodged with Bhagwanpura police station on Thursday night. All the six accused were produced in court on Friday.
