Former head of Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) Mushtaq Ahmad Peer had taken s 60 lakh from a broker to leak question papers a day ahead of the scheduled examination. This was stated in the crime branch's status report filed in the court on Friday.
The crime branch has established role of the former BOPEE chief in the 2012-MBBS scam unearthed recently.
The crime branch said Peer had sold the question papers to broker Farooq Ahmad Ittoo of Darigund Bijbehara, the proprietor of Infotec Computers, who sold them to the beneficiaries and more brokers. Itoo struck a deal with Peer for Rs 60 lakh, of which Peer was paid Rs 30 lakh on June 22, a day before the entrance examination, while Rs 30 lakh were to be paid once the result was declared.
The crime branch said Itoo drove to a guest house, where he prepared sets of the question papers on a printer he was carrying.
These were sold to the aspirants, who were also made to take the entrance test in a hotel instead of the official exam centres.
