Former Sikkim Chief Minister and state Congress president Nar Bahadur Bhandari has been admitted to a hospital due to hyper-tension.

Bhandari, who was admitted last night and put in ICU, showed signs of steady progress and his vital parameters are functioning normally today, Dr. Mona, a member of the medical team at the Central Referral Hospital (CRH), Tadong, told PTI here.

The doctors found no abnormality in his heart in the CT Scan and ECG reports, she said, adding that he may be shifted to the private ward this evening.

The 69 year-old former Chief Minister was suffering from hyper-tension and his heart beat found to be slightly less than normal, she said, observing that the deterioration in his health conditions may be caused due to wrong medication.

His son in-law Anupam Mokhtan said that the condition of the former Chief Minister has improved and he has been feeling better since this morning.

Bhandari was reported to be suffering from various health problems a day after the announcement of the results of the assembly and parliamentary polls and had attended review meeting with his party colleagues despite his indifferent health conditions ever since.
