Now, you can have your cake and race it too. As F1 fever grips the city, bakeries are busy whipping up cakes, pastries and cookies themed around the Indian Grand Prix, which will take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida from Oct 28-30. And, fans are busy ’lapping’ the stuff up.

“There’s a huge demand for cakes with F1 designs, with race cars, checkered flags and figurines of pit babes ruling the list. We sell at least 10-15 such cakes every day,” says Nitin Khurana of The Sweet Boutique in GK I, which has on its menu a cake that looks like an F1 car, standing at 2 feet and weighing 15 kg. The cake, with lights, smoke emission and rotating parts, costs Rs.25,000.

cakeChef Kishi Arora of Foodaholics has come up with a range of F1 cupcakes (Rs.2500 a dozen) with mini cars and flags. "I am getting 80 orders a week, mostly from guys planning private get togethers," says Arora. Equinox at Parkland Exotica has F1 track cakes priced at Rs.550 onwards, while Marbella’s at Tivoli Garden is stocking up on F1 pastries and chocolates.
