Four persons were arrested today for their alleged involvement in a murder case where three women of a family were killed in Kidwai Nagar area in Kanpur, police said.
The suspects include a milkman, who visited the house just before the incident took place, his employer, a gardener's son and a rickshaw puller, police said.
Imarti Devi (85), her daughter-in-law Pushpa Agarwal (58) and Agarwal's 25-year-old daughter Ruchi were killed on Tuesday by assailants who slit their throats with a sharp weapon.
The motive is not clear yet as cash and valuables were intact, police said, without ruling out the possibility of an insider's involvement.
The family runs several businesses.
A meeting of trade associations across the city has been called tomorrow to discuss the issue, said President of Kanpur Trade Association Pramod Kumar Jaiswal.
