india Updated: Mar 23, 2007 17:25 IST

Police has registered a dowry death case against four persons at a village near Muzaffarnagar for allegedly burning a woman to death and then burying her body in a graveyard.
The incident came to light after the police exhumed the body from the graveyard on a complaint by the parents of the dead woman.

The four accused, including her husband, are absconding, police said.

Kusum, married to Satija, was purportedly burned to death by her in-laws at Chitoda village for failing to bring dowry. Subsequently, her body was buried in a graveyard by her husband and in-laws on March 19, police said.

Kusum's parents, who were not informed about her sudden death, lodged a complaint against four persons including her husband. A case in this regard has been registered in the Jansath police station.
