Showing zero tolerance for corruption, Rohtak range inspector general of police (IGP) Anil Kumar Rao on Tuesday suspended four head constables for extorting money from commuters on Monday night.

The personnel, who have been shown the door, are Jasbir, Amit, Manoj and Rustoom, all posted at Sadar police station here.

The accused were extorting money by setting up a fake check point near Gaddi Kheri village in the district. After receiving a tip-off, a police team reached the site and found the erring head constables extorting money from commuters.

On the IGP's direction, superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Duggal suspended them and marked a departmental investigation against them. Rao said the police department would not spare any official found guilty of corruption and dereliction of duty.
