Two policemen and an assistant commandant in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed in an encounter with Maoists at Kadma village in East Champaran district late on Wednesday. A Maoist was also killed though the police suspect more casualties at their end.
Reports say more than 100 armed cadres of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), including some top leaders, assembled at Kadma village under Rajepur police station for a big operation late at night. Police rushed to the village with CRPF personnel posted at a nearby camp in Madhuban camp.
Two policemen, a CRPF officer and a core member of the rebel outfit were killed. However, police are yet to identify the slain Maoist, said IG (Operations) S.K. Bhardwaj.
“We have dispatched STF personnel from Patna to assist the district police,” said the IG.
