Four drown as boat capsizes in Bihar

Four persons have drowned when a boat carrying 20 people capsized near Dillahi village in Darbhanga district in Bihar.

Four persons have drowned when a boat carrying 20 people capsized near Dillahi village of the district, an official said on Thursday.

The boat was on its way to Kaligaon from Dillahi village of the district on Wednesday when it got caught in a whirlpool caused by sudden rush of flood waters and overturned, District Magistrate Upendra Sharma told PTI.

Four people drowned but the rest swam to safety, he said.

The deceased have been identified as Umashanker (48), Sunaina Devi (40), Kishori Raut (55) and Rambha Kumari (18).

The agitated villagers are demanding adequate compensation to kin of the victims.
