In an alleged case of ragging, a first-year student of the RN Engineering College, Madlauda in Panipat district was stabbed by his seniors near college premises on Wednesday evening.

Condition of the victim Deepak, a first-year student of mechanical stream is stated to be out of danger.

In a statement issued to the Panipat-based media organisations this evening, the college management said that it has suspended four students from 4th year- namely Balwinder (mechanical), Deepak (electronics), Amit and Sushil for their alleged involvement in the crime.

Deepak alleged that his seniors attempted to harass him physically when he went bathroom earlier in the day.

After he resisted any attempt of ragging, the accused dropped the idea but got hold of him in the evening and attacked him outside the college campus.

The victim has reportedly suffered injuries in stomach and legs and admitted to the Bhim Sain Sacchar Civil Hospital in Panipat town.

However, the Panipat superintendent of police Pankaj Nain rubbishes the ragging charge and said that it was a matter of students’ internal rivalry.

He told HT over phone on Thursday evening that four students have been booked for voluntarily causing hurt.
