Four idols recovered, 2 held

TUKOGANJ POLICE have arrested two thieves who stole four idols of Lord Ganesh from a house in Scheme No 71 nearly a fortnight ago. All four idols have been recovered from the accused.

Acting on a tip-off, the duo was arrested while trying to sell off the idols. They have been identified as Tulsiram (35) son of Ram Avatar resident of Badi Gwaltoli and Mohammad Ismail (45) son of Bashir Khan resident of Anandi Nagar, Ring Road, Khajrana.

Both the accused are drug addicts. They had been arrested earlier too for petty thefts.

They stole the copper idols from the house of one Basantilal son of Sagarmal Chopra resident of Scheme No 71.

Basantilal had not lodged a theft report earlier as someone had died in his family and they were in a state of mourning.
However, he was thinking of lodging a report on Friday when the police informed him that the idols had been recovered.

Woman sets husband on fire
A WOMAN set her sleeping husband on fire here on Friday because he did not allow her to meet her paramour. 
The victim, who sustained 80 per cent burns, is battling for his life at MY Hospital.

The incident occurred at Ramnagar, Musakheri on Friday morning. The victim, Gheesaram (40), who works as a security guard in the Palasia area, had returned home on Friday morning after night duty. When he went of to sleep, his wife Umabai poured kerosene on the bed and set him on fire.

Gheesaram’s children doused the flames with the help of neighbours, and took him to hospital.

Umabai had run away with a man living in Nanda Nagar sometime back. Gheesaram, who had come to know of their affair, somehow managed to bring his wife back. When she started seeing him again, Gheesaram protested and this resulted in frequent fights.

Student ends life
A STUDENT of Christian Eminent committed suicide by hanging in his room at 161, MIG on Thursday night.
MIG police said a B Sc Final student of Christian Eminent, Ashish (22) son of Prakash Chand, is a resident of Harda. Neighbours spotted him hanging from the fan from an open window. Police have sent the body for postmortem. The reason behind the suicide is being investigated.
