Four injured in Maoist-CRPF gun battle in Orissa

At least four people including three personnel of the Central Reserve Police forces (CRPF) sustained injuries in a gun battle between Maoist rebels and a paramilitary team in Orissa's Malkangiri district on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The incident took place at the weekly market of MV 79 village, 70 km from the district headquarters of Malkangiri and some 700 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, at about 1.30 pm, a local police official told IANS.
The armed CRPF personnel had gone to the market as part of the security measures. However, the Maoists first fired on a person who had come to the market. When the man fell on the ground, the CRPF team rushed to the spot and launched a counterattack and the Maoists also retaliated, he said.
At least three CRPF jawans sustained injured, the official said.
It was not immediately known if any Maoist was injured, he added.
