Four militants, including three members of banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), have been arrested in separate raids near the Bangladesh border and elsewhere in Meghalaya.

Police said the three HNLC members were arrested near Barsora, close to the international border in West Khasi hills district on Monday.

A revolver and currency notes were recovered from the rebels who were suspected to have entered Meghalaya from Bangladesh to carry out extortion activities, police said.

In another raid, an activist of the Liveration Achik Elite Force (LAEF) was arrested near Williamnagar in East Garo hills district on Monday, police said.
