The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught four officials allegedly accepting illegal gratifications.

Balwan Singh, labour officer, and his driver Sanjay Kumar have been caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from one Vivek Gupta, a resident of Durgapur, Delhi, in lieu of inspection report of a factory at Kundli in Sonepat, a bureau spokesperson said.

He said the bureau had caught Sohan Lal, lineman in power utilities, Sirsa, red-handed while accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 2,500 from one Dalip Singh of Fathepuria Niyamatkhan in Sirsa in lieu of installing an electricity meter.

The spokesperson said that the bureau had also caught Chhattar Pal, a clerk in the district industries centre, Panipat, red-handed while accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 3,000 from one Mukesh Kumar in lieu of registering his firm.

Cases have been registered against all perpetrators under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the bureau police stations.
