The Kurukshetra police have arrested four poachers who allegedly shot dead a teenaged boy near Ajrana Khurd village on Friday night.

About 12 other persons wanted in the murder case are still on the run.

The station house officer (SHO) of Jhansa police station Dhanpal told Hindustan Times on Tuesday that while the three accused have been sent to judicial custody, the police has secured custody of the prime accused Sher Singh for further interrogation.

He confirmed that the accused were hunting for wild boars in the fields near Ajrana, about 18 kms from Kurukshetra.

Identity of all accused was based on five motorcycles left behind by them near the crime spot.

At least one empty bullet was found from the spot, police sources said. The SHO said that teams have been constituted to nab the others accused.

The police said the victim Tejinder Singh had raised an alarm after noticing poachers near Dera Prem Saini on Friday night.

The boy was working in the fields along with his father when he saw several motorcyclists hunting for wild boars in the area.

On noticing the armed men, Tejinder started shouting to attract attention of the villagers towards hunters.

Meanwhile, one of the poachers fired a shot at Tejinder who collapsed on the spot.

When villagers, who were in nearby area rushed to the spot, they spotted Tejjnder lying in a pool of blood.

He was rushed to Shahbad Community Health Centre (CHC) where he was declared dead.

Later, the body was sent to the PGI, Rohtak for the forensic postmortem examination.
