Frauwallner, rana emerge raid champs

Austrian Helmut Frauwallner and Suresh Rana won the extreme two-wheeler and extreme-four wheeler categories in the 13th Raid De Himalaya motor rally, which ended on Monday.

Austrian Helmut Frauwallner and Suresh Rana won the extreme two-wheeler and extreme-four wheeler categories in the 13th Raid De Himalaya motor rally, which ended on Monday.

The annual rally - an off-road racing spectacle in the rugged and inhospitable Himalayan terrain - had begun on October 9 from Shimla before finishing off today at the Royal Springs Golf Course, on the banks of Dal lake.

The rallyists went via Manali-Leh-Rangdon (Zanskar), which comprises of one of the world's most dangerous roads.

Pallikal wins second title of the year
New Delhi:
India's top-ranked female squash player Dipika Pallikal overcame stiff resistance from England's Sarah-Jane Perry before prevailing 11-9 11-3 11-7 in the final to win the WISPA Dread Series 2 tournament in Washington. This was Pallikal second title of the year. The 20-year-old Chennai girl recently became the first Indian to break into top-20 in the world rankings following her title-win at the Orange County tournament in California last month.
