Swine flu seems to be making a comeback in Andhra Pradesh as one fresh case of A (H1N1) influenza was reported in the state capital taking the number of infected persons to four so far this year, Health Department authorities said today.

A 43-year-old person from Nizamabad district tested positive for swine flu yesterday and has been admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) of Government General and Chest Hospital at Erragadda here, they said.

"The patient has been kept on ventilator and his condition continues to be critical. He is under observation for 48-hours," Dr K Subhakar, Chief Coordinator of Swine Flu Cell at the Chest Hospital, told PTI.

The latest case is the first patient to be kept on ventilation at Chest Hospital this year, he said adding "Swine flu virus has so far claimed two lives in Andhra Pradesh this year while four cases including the present one have tested positive for the flu virus."

As many as 786 persons tested positive for A (H1N1) influenza flu virus last year while 53 deaths were reported due to swine flu in the state, the Health Department official said.

It may be recalled here that the first swine flu case in the country was reported from Hyderabad on May 16 last year.
