RAmbabu GADARIA’S sister Ramshree Baghel will be fielded by the Samanata party in the upcoming by-election to Gwalior parliamentary seat ‘as a mark of protest against alleged police atrocities’ on her.

Ramshree told newspersons that she has chosen to jump into the fray to prove her innocence. Ramshree has spent a major part of her life in jail in the last 12 years during which she alleged abuse and police atrocity.

She said her acquittal in most of the cases, including kidnapping and murder, was proof of her innocence. ‘Police lodged me in jail without any ground.  Why should I be punished for the deeds of Rambabu and Dayaaram’, she asked.

However, she is being tried in two cases at present.   Speaking in local dialect she declared that this election will herald the struggle for women’s emancipation. ‘I am contesting this election for the honour of women,’ she declared.

Naïve looking Ramshree boasted of her political experience as a former Sarpanch of Bhimpur village. She had filed her nomination during the last Panchayat election from jail, but the election was postponed.

Her brothers became dacoits in 1995. Dayaaram was killed in an encounter with the police on August 4 last year in the forest of Majhera in Shivpuri district.

However Rambabu escaped that encounter and another on January 3 this year. The Gadariya gang killed 13 persons belonging to the Gurjar community in October 2004 and five in November 2006 in Karyara village.

Samamata Dal leaders said Ramshree has been chosen as their candidate for the upcoming by-election because she has undergone police atrocities.

The party will back anyone who has been subjected to injustice, they explained. National general secretary of Samanata
Dal, Uday Singh Kushwah said that his party’s plank would be women honour, BJP failure and the disqualified Congress MP’s shameful action.
