With the arrest of four persons, police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of burglars active in central Kashmir's Budgam district and seized stolen goods worth lakhs.
According to the Budgam police, the burglars have been identified as Gowhar Ahmad Wani from Arigam village of Khan Sahib; Muzaffar Ahmad Khan of Parnewa in Budgam; Shahzad Ahmad Dar of Watruna Bandipora and Asif Ahmad Wani.
After questioning, stolen goods, including jewellery and 17 mobile phones were seized from various places, said police.
"The gang was involved in many cases of house breaking in adjoining areas, including Hyderpora, Peerbagh, Humhama, Ompora, Beerwah and Budgam," said police.
"They were also involved in committing burglaries in trains, shops," said police.
