Gangster, aide gunned down by STF in Agra

The kingpin of a notorious gang carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head was killed along with an accomplice in an encounter with the UP STF in Agra, police said.

The kingpin of a notorious gang carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head was killed along with an accomplice in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh STF in Agra, police said on Sunday.

Veeru Singh alias Veere, who headed the Durgesh Jatav gand, and an unidentified aide were killed in the gunfight last night, STF official V S Tyagi said, adding two pistols and 13 live cartridges were recovered from them.

"We had got information late Saturday night that Veeru is coming to the city with an intention to commit crime," the official said.

Several cases of murder and attempt to murder were registered against Veeru Singh in different police station of Firozabad. Police had announced a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head.
