Gaur hints at increase in compensation for land

india Updated: Jan 23, 2007 12:00 IST

STATE COMMERCE and Industry Minister Babulal Gaur has indicated that the government may revise compensation package for the tillers whose land was requisitioned for setting up Auto Testing Track in Dhar district.

Gaur, who was in the City on Monday, told reporters, “the tillers want to be paid according to the current market rates while the law states that the compensation be based on the average rates of past one year and also the stamp duty paid, but we are taking a sympathetic view of the whole matter.”

Earlier, addressing a function of All India Manufacturers Association (AIMO) Madhya Pradesh Board at Pologround, Gaur appealed to the industry to give the Government some more time to improve infrastructure and set the stage for rapid industrialisation of the State.

“We have been in power for only two and a half years and need some more time to reverse the ill-effects of decades of nationalisation policy of the Centre and complete neglect of infrastructure in the 10-year rule of previous Digvijay Singh Government,” he said.
