Gaming enthusiasts across the Capital have a reason to party. Starting tomorrow is a three-day festival — BYOC, Summer 2011 — which will have 60 hours of non-stop gaming.
Organised by Xtreme Gaming in partnership with HT Edge, the event will also have workshops and exhibitions.
“It will go on for 2 nights and 3 days. It is a LAN party where gamers will be connected to one LAN. In addition to the various gaming competitions, there will be a host of other activities such as gaming exhibitions and workshops,” says Ashish Gupta, Director of Xtreme Gaming, “The first event was organized in 2007. Initially, it would take place every 3 months, but now, we are holding it every 6 months. Participants come from all across the country,” he adds.
Gamers are expected to bring their own computers and consoles to play the games, though a PC will also be provided on rent. The venue will also have a sleeping zone.
“I have participated in all the major gaming events and BYOC is the biggest. We are a team of 20 members, out of which, 14 or 15 of us participate in this event,” says Mukul Sabhani, 24, an avid gaming enthusiast who has participated in every BYOC. “This year, it’s going to be even more exciting, as the prize money is really big. Around 100 or even more gamers are expected. I plan to stay for the entire duration of the tournament,” says Siddhanth Mehra, 18, one of the participants at the BYOC.
