Going by the large number of shops selling tea in Delhi, it is obvious that Delhiites simply love their daily cup of tea. But when it comes to buying tea, most of the shops sell the run of the mill variety with nothing exceptional about them. Here’s a look at some stores where you can get exotic and good quality tea leaves for a perfect brew.

Craft House
This high end store stocks some of the most exotic varieties of tea available in the city. The store boasts of selling the rare Silver Tips Imperial tea, which is just available in very few shops in the world. It costs Rs 3,850 for 50 gms. A whole range of organic Darjeeling tea is also sold here at a price of Rs 400 for 50 gms. While Classic Green Tea (Rs 650) is one of the hottest sellers here, white tea, masala chai and jasmine tea are some of the other varieties that are available. You can also try tea-tasting here and sample different flavors. Craft House not only sells tea leaves, but also sells tea cosy (Rs 750), Classic Coorg Arabic ground coffee (Rs 150 gms for Rs 230) and even tandoori and salad curry powder.

Aap Ki Pasand
Located in Daryaganj, this one is a favourite with tea connoisseurs in the city. The aroma of freshly brewed tea welcomes you the moment you enter this shop. The well-mannered staff will take you through the finer nuances of the kinds of tea available here. The shop specializes in Indian tea and black tea from Darjeeling, Assam, Kangra and Neelgiri. The Darjeeling tea starts at Rs 200 for 100 gms and goes up to Rs 2,000 for 100 gms. Various kinds of green tea with flavors like rose petal, cinnamon, ginger, are a must buy. At R75, you can also choose a variety of tea leaves and get them brewed.

State Emporiums
Darjeeling Tea at Manjusha, West Bengal Emporium
Tea Hut - An entire corner of the emporium is dedicated to Darjeeling tea. White tea, the finest form of Indian Tea (R700 for 250gms) is a best seller here. Another hit here are the tea sticks that come in four flavours - Darjeeling Dew, Mango Monsoon, Darjeeling green and Masala Chai Latte and cost R98 for 10 sticks. The all time favourite with their customers is the Darjeeling leaf tea that costs Rs 236 for 300gms and the Darjeeling Tea, which costs Rs 143 for 150gms. All the tea leaves come in exotic brocade packs.

Assam Government Emporium
The Assam tea leaf is the most popular item here, which is available for Rs 147 for 300gms. Other popular varieties here include Assam Full leaf tea (R192), Nilgiri full leaf tea (R180) and Assam Green tea (Rs 180). Two seasonal varieties of tea are also available here - First flash tea and second flash tea.

Regalia Tea House
Tucked in the posh market of Sunder Nagar, Regalia Tea House is a favorite with the expats in the city. The USP of the store is personal tea-tasting sessions with the customers. The store stocks a variety of black tea, green tea and assorted tea from the regions of Darjeeling and Assam, the most popular being the Silver Green tea, priced at Rs 3,000 for a kilo. The shop also stocks tea pots and tea strainers. The starting price range for tea pots is Rs 500. The shop also has a very active Facebook fan page.

Mittal Tea House
The USP of this shop is Darjeeling tea, informs Rajeev Mittal, the owner of the shop, who tells his customers about the ways to have tea and its health benefits. “The Darjeeling variety makes for the perfect morning cup of tea, as it is full of flavours and isn’t dominated by one particular aroma or flavour,” he says. The shop not only caters to a niche segment but also sell tea for the masses. The starting range for a kilo of Darjeeling tea here costs Rs 400 and goes upto Rs 700. For those of you who want to gift tea, you can choose from Assam tea packed in a beautiful golden coloured brocade and net that starts at Rs 125 for 100 gms, and tea packed in paper mache of different shapes and bright colours at Rs 250 for 100 gms.
