India's middle-distance runner Ghamanda Ram narrowly missed gold in 800m in the opening leg of the Asian Grand Prix meet in the Chinese city of Jiaxiang.
In a tactical race, the Indian runner was pipped at the post by Iran's Sadjad Moradi, who clocked 1:50.47. Ghamanda clocked 1:50.69. Chinese runner Yang Xiaofei took the bronze in 1:50.84, while Sajeesh Joseph, the second Indian in the race, finished fifth in 1:51.62.
India's second medal came in women's discus throw where Seema Antil clinched bronze with a throw of 49.77m.
India's upcoming jumper Mayookha Johny narrowly missed a podium finish in women triple jump.
The event was won by Li Yanmei of China (13.98 metres). Xie Limei, also from China, won silver (13.93). Uzbekistan's Aleksandra Kotlyarova took home the bronze (13.80m).
