A trade union activist on Wednesday moved the Bombay High Court, claiming that he has some "vital information" with regard to the alleged custodial death of Ghatkopar blast accused Khwaja Yunus, which he wanted to share with the state CID.

Moving the court of Justices Ranjana Desai and Dilip Bhosale, Harish Bhalchandra Vichare's lawyer CU Singh said, " Vichare has vital information about the incident in question and wants to give the information to state CID."

The court, which is hearing the application of Yunus' mother Aasiya Begum, directed Vichare to appear before an investigating agency to submit the information.

Meanwhile, the court also asked the director general of police to file a reply in two weeks as to when the chargesheet in the Yunus case would be filed indicating an end in the investigations.

Public Prosecutor Satish Borulkar said that the court has also asked the DGP to inform the home department about it.

Begum had filed an application in the High Court alleging that Yunus was killed while in police custody and sought compensation for the same.

POTA detenue Yunus was picked from Marathwada's Parbhani district in December 2002. Police claim that he escaped after the vehicle in which he was being taken to Aurangabad met with an accident in January 2003.

Two persons were killed and 49 injured after a powerful blast ripped a public transport bus in suburban Ghatkopar on December 2, 2002. A special POTA court had acquitted all eight accused persons in the case.
