Ghaziabad gang rape victim now being threatened

No relief seems to be in sight for the 22-year-old gang rape victim. She can barely walk and is suffering from acute pain in the leg and stomach. She has also allegedly received threats to withdraw the case.

On the other hand, the Ghaziabad police have failed to make any headway in the case. They haven’t even mentioned that a bottle had been shoved inside the woman in the FIR.

On Wednesday, the victim had to go to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital which refused to admit her but did give her a pain relief shot. The 22-year-old stays in a rented accommodation in east Delhi’s Trilokpuri.

She has also alleged that a man came to her house and threatened her and her friend to withdraw the case. “I am scared that I will be attacked again. Even the Delhi Police are helping the accused,” she said.

The woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four men in a moving car in Ghaziabad. She was then dumped near Fortis hospital in Noida around midnight with her hands and legs tied and a bottle shoved inside her. She was helped by a passerby who informed the police.

Even Satish Bhati, the passerby who rescued the girl, has raised doubts on police investigation. “It’s shocking that the police have made no mention of the bottle in the FIR when I had told them about it in my statement. I have complained to the IG Meerut Zone and he has asked me to meet him on Thursday,” said Bhati.

The Ghaziabad police, on the other hand, are suspicious about the sequence of events. “The victim said she was picked up by the accused and his friends in the evening but at that time he was in Kalyanpuri area. The SHO of the area has confirmed his location.

The victim knew the accused for long and had even filed a case against him at Sahibabad police station. If the girl’s allegation is found to be fake, a case will be registered against her,” said Dharmendra Singh, SSP Ghaziabad.

According to the victim’s friend, the accused had been blackmailing and abusing her for a while now. “They were earlier friends but he made an obscene MMS of her and started blackmailing, abusing and torturing her. He burnt her legs with cigarettes. He also forced her to give false statements in two cases. On both occasions, she confessed the truth in front of the court. Since then, he wanted revenge,” the friend said.
