india Updated: Nov 25, 2009 16:45 IST

The elections for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) went off peacefully barring a few sporadic incidents during polling on Monday.

The polling in 150 municipal divisions of GHMC was by and large peaceful barring a few minor incidents, city police
commissioner B Prasada Rao said here this evening.

The police has booked 11 cases related to scuffles between supporters of different political parties, he said.

The police has received complaints of distribution of money in Parshant Nagar, bogus voting in Puranapool area, scuffles at Azampura, Mangalhat, Kurmaguda, Banjara hills and Panjeshah localities, the Commissioner said.

The city police had made elaborate security arrangements to ensure free and fair elections with the deployment of over
18,000 personnel besides three companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF), mobile parties and special striking forces.
