Girl found hanging from tree in Una village

The body of a teenaged girl from Punjab was found hanging from a tree in Singan village of Haroli block in the district. The deceased has been identified as Anju Devi (18), a resident of Binewal in the adjoining Garhshankar assembly segment of Punjab. According to police sources, a bus driver was the first to spot the body, who informed the villagers.

The body of a teenaged girl from Punjab was found hanging from a tree in Singan village of Haroli block in the district. The deceased has been identified as Anju Devi (18), a resident of Binewal in the adjoining Garhshankar assembly segment of Punjab. According to police sources, a bus driver was the first to spot the body, who informed the villagers.


Una SP Khushal Sharma, DSP Surinder Sharma, Nawanshahr DSP Gurmail Singh and Garhshankar SHO Jitender Singh also reached the spot, while the Una police took the body in custody.

Deceased's brother Harpal said she was missing from home since 8.15 pm on Wednesday and that attempts to trace her had failed. Later in the night, the family members lodged a missing complaint at the police post in Jhuggi. The SP said the body will be handed over to the family members after the postmortem examination.
